The new MLS team coming to Philadelphia is called Union, and it's putting it's gears into motion to ready for it's inaugural season. The Union recently announced who their first Head Coach is going to be, and the ready fan base is happy with the announcement of Peter Nowak as Team Manager / Head Coach.
Nowak holds the distinction of being the only person to win the MLS Cup as both a player (Chicago Fire) and a coach (DC United). He was also the Captain of the National Team in his home country, Poland.
I recently had the honor of speaking with Peter Nowak and listening to him address a crowd of loyal fans regarding his goals and philosophies with regards to soccer. The future of soccer development in America requires success in both the MLS and WPS leagues, and I hope that Boyertown Soccer Club is well represented at both games beginning in 2010!
Lots more background and information on the Union is available at www.philadelphiaunion.com. Starting in the same year, in the same stadium is the Women's professional team - the Philadelphia Independence. Independence info can be found at http://www.womensprosoccer.com/teams/philadelphia-2010.aspx.
