U9 BSC Independence Takes 1st Place at Turf War

04/02/2012, 3:46pm (EDT)
By Coach Marcus

Team Independence starts April with a successful 1st place finish. We started off with an early morning game and beat Catty Storm 2-1 with consistent pressure on the offensive 3rd and strong defense. Our second game we started off slow vs. Southern Lehigh but took control of the game in the second half and finished with a 2-0 finish to finish at the top of our division.

Entering the Semi-Final Game we knew we would be tested against a strong Towamencin Tigers team. We started off well but lost focus and found ourselves losing 3-1 with only about 15 minutes remaining. Almost as if the girls weren't worried, they rallied back to 3-3 and took it to a golden goal overtime. About 2 minutes into overtime and solid consistent pressure in the offensive third, we scored the golden goal to head into the Finals with Amity.

In a well played Finals match we finished with a solid 2-1 win. All the girls should be commended on a great tournament which showed their mental and physical toughness. Way to go girls!

U9 BSC Independence finishes 1st

The BSC U9 Girls Independence Team took 1st Place at the Blue Mountain Soccer Indoor Tournament.

After losing only one game and outscoring their opponents 15 to 1 the girls were eager to meet the team that beat them earlier that day.   With only a 10 minute break between their final game and the championship game the girls played solid defense and put continued pressure on offense to take it to a golden goal overtime.  About 3 minutes into overtime team Independence scored and took a 1st place finish in a well played game.

Awesome job girls and great solid teamwork, pressure, hustle, and defense.  Way to go!

The U9 BSC Independence Girls Team took 1st place in the Jack Walsh Tournament and went into the Championship Match going undefeated winning its games, 3-0,9-0, and 3-0.  Entering the finals the BSC Independence team was very excited and eager to play another great team in Radnor Arsenal.  At half time it was 0-0 and thats when the girls really started to put the pressure on and finished off by winning 2-0.

The girls played great all weekend and not only went undefeated, but also did not get scored on throughout this tournament.  Great teamwork, pressure, and defense were the keys to our success throughout the tournament.

PAGS League Champs Div 5 (Fall 2011)

The Independence Team Finished the year with a 8 Wins and 1 Loss to finish off the league in 1st Place.  The girls had a great PAGS League Season with 26 goals for and only 6 goals against which speaks for the strong defense played throughout the year.

The girls made huge strides in improving in all aspects of the game throughout the year and their commitment to both practices and focus during games should be congratulated.

Great Job Independence!
