EPYSA Indoor State Cup Champions

February 4, 2012, Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Red Lions traveled to Wilkes-Barre today to face some of the best competition Eastern PA has to offer in the indoor state cup. The boys clinched their division by beating YMS Attack, Mannheim Blaze and Lower Merion Gremio. In the semi-final, the Red Lions came up against TEYSA '99, and won the match 1-0. The final match brought the team together with YMS Fusion. It was a back and forth match for the first 10 minutes, with each side scoring two goals. A knuckled blast from about 35 yards secured the lead for the Red Lions in the final third of the match. The boys then locked it down by shifting from a 2-1-2 to a 3-1-1, and even scored an insurance goal soon after. The final score was Red Lions 4, YMS Fusion 2. Congratulations to the entire team for a well-played day of soccer.

Top of the Table

November 5, 2011 – Middletown, DE & Downingtown, PA – The Red Lions completed a busy day, and a jammed packed fall season of soccer today with two wins to secure an undefeated first season in the DELCO Soccer League. The first match against MOT involved a 2 hour drive to Middletown, DE. The boys methodically went through the match, tactically breaking down the opposition which resulted in a 3-0 victory. The second match of the day took place in Downingtown, PA, under the lights, at the United Sports Training Center at 8pm. Facing a solid side in TEYSA, the Red Lions converted one of many opportunities to bring home a well-deserved victory. August 27, 2011, Royersford, PA - The Red Lions took home a championship title this weekend from the Battle at Hilltop tournament. Three competitive matches against Marple Newtown Stealth, Philadelphia Soccer Club Boca Jrs., and CRUSA were decided by one goal. The Red Lions went undefeated at the event, scoring 5 goals, and only allowing 2.

Red Lions Win Hunter Meckes Memorial

April 17, 2011, Lehighton, PA - With the tournament schedule being adjusted as a result of the drenching rains received over the weekend, the Red Lions needed to come on strong without hesitation in their matches, and that is what the boys did. In the first match, the Red Lions maintained a majority of possession, but Carbon United scored first. It was not until the second half that our boys pried open the CU goal, and put 3 in the back of the net with grit, skill, and beautiful passing. In game two, the Red Lions controlled the entire flow of the match. The finishing was precise, and the passing & defending was spot-on. It was a long day for the boys, and they battled near 30 mile an hour winds to bring home the championship.

Winter League Champions!

January 28, 2011 Oaks, PA  - Facing teams from Intercounty and DELCO, the Red Lions played impressive, creative soccer over the entire winter session at The Far Post in Oaks, PA. The 5 v 5 format encouraged good first touch, ball control, and composed, quick decision making in order to generate success; the Red Lions delivered on all counts. Playing against sides that were one and two age divisions older, the team's desire, skill and field presence controlled the matches. The culmination was during the Friday night playoffs; a 5 game festival that lasted well into the night. The Red Lions stayed true to their game, building the attack and destroying the counter attack, until they closed out the campaign as champions!

Red Lions Take 2nd at "More Beach Blast"

Red Lions at Wildwood Beach Blast

July 17th & 18th - Wildwood, NJ - Adapting quickly to playing on the soft sand, the Red Lions put on quite a show this weekend at the "More Beach Blast" tournament. On Saturday, the team came out strong, and beat two NJ based squads decisively. The first team that the Red Lions faced on Sunday tried to turn the match into a "street fight." However, our boys kept their poise and composure and beat this team by playing good quality soccer. This 5 -1 victory secured the Red Lions' advance to the final match. Later in the day on Sunday, our squad faced Western Lehigh in the championship. Both of the teams in this championship had gone undefeated in their respective divisions all weekend, and both teams play high quality soccer. In the end, Western Lehigh came out on top. It was a match filled with hard work, skill and sportsmanship on both sides of the field.

August 13, 2011, King of Prussia, PA - For the second year in a row, the Red Lions have brought home the first place trophy from the King of Prussia Soccer Club's Danny Bevilacqua Memorial Tournament. Whitewater Cup

May 28, 2011, Forty Foot, PA - The Red Lions faced teams from Altoona, PA, Smithtown, NY and Garden City Park, NY this weekend at the Whitewater Cup Classic. A slow start in the first match against Altoona did not discourage the boys from coming back strong against the two New York based squads. It was quite a show of skill once the Red Lions got going, decisively winning their final two matches. Unfortunately, the loss in the first match forced a second place finish overall.

A Battle at the Quarry Classic

May 7th & 8th, Wyomissing, PA - After winning the first three matches on Saturday, the Red Lions drew a 1 - 1 tie in their first match on Sunday against the Western Lehigh Rampage. This left the same two undefeated teams to meet again in the championship match later in the day. At full time, the teams were still locked at 1 - 1, and the championship match went through two sudden-death overtime halves. Still drawn 1 - 1, a penalty shoot-out was next on the agenda. After the first round of 5 ended tied, Western Lehigh won the second round of PK's to take home the title, and the Red Lions settled for a well-fought second place.

2010 Fall Champions

November 20, 2010 - Reading, PA - The Boyertown Red Lions had a fitting end to their 2010 fall season when they won their championship match against Pottsgove by a score of 5 – 0. The Red Lions went undefeated during regular season play, conceding only 4 goals in 9 matches. No goals at all were scored against them in the playoffs this past weekend, and the Red Lions kept their undefeated 2010 Fall Reading Berks Junior Soccer League record intact.

Lehigh Valley Presidents' Day Classic Champs

February 19, 2011 - Allentown, PA - Going undefeated in all 4 games, and allowing only 2 goals, the Red Lions came home with the Lehigh Valley Presidents' Day Classic championship this weekend. The most challenging match was the final against FC Thunder from Mt. Pocono. FC Thunder scored first, but the Red Lions responded with lightning speed, and controlled the match from that point forward. With a complete team effort, Boyertown methodically shredded the Thunder defense, and completely shut down any future attack.

The boys faced teams from King of Prussia, Marple Newtown, and Radnor; and went undefeated at the event. The hardest fought match was the second one of the day against Marple Newtown. Our boys went down 1 - 0 early on, but then creatively worked the ball around the field opening up opportunities, and ending the game with a 3 - 1 victory. It was a very well run tournament, and a wonderful team experience.

Red Lions Take 1st at the Western Lehigh 4 Game Fall Fest

October 10th & 11th - Emmaus, PA - Battling through slick fields and 36 degree weather, the Red Lions took home 1st place in their final tournament of the season. On the first day of the event, the boys beat the Massapequa "Sharks" (from Long Island New York) and the Lower Macungie "Cyclones." On the final day of the tournament, the team tied the Abington "Rowdies" (from Northeastern PA) 2 goals to 2, and beat the Plymouth Soccer Club "Rock". The total score differential for the Red Lions at the tournament was 20 goals for, 2 goals against. It was a true team effort on the field.

Red Lions Go 3 and 1 at First Tournament

August 23, 2009 - Oley, PA

The Red Lions won 3 of their 4 matches at the Oley Valley tournament. Good ball movement through the midfield, solid defense, decisive attacking, and excellent goal keeping all contributed to a stellar showing for this team that has been together less than two months. Although the team placed 2nd out of 6 in points going into the finals, the design of the tournament created a situation that had the 1st and 3rd place teams play for 1st place. As a result, the Red Lions faced Towamencin for 3rd place and won the hard fought game with skill and sportsmanship.
